VACCINES

This one's for all you new parents out there. There's an article in TIME magazine about a link between autism and mercury in vaccines--which has now been taken out. But I'm a little old fashioned. In the article it says "at birth"...that is to say...BEFORE the usual and customary series of measles, mumps, etc. at TWO MONTHS babies start hepatitis b series??!! Before anyone knows anything about their immune systems. That was a " recommended" vaccine when I went to China as an adult. And I thought it was done prior to entering middle school. Well, it was, when my son entered middle school. Are you all getting this 'at birth' for your babies? Also, this chicken pox shot was invented when my son was in 2nd or 3rd grade and it was so new, my pediatrition at the time advised against it saying he felt it just prolonged the inevitable into one's 20's. So my 18 year old has never had THAT vaccine, been exposed 2ce to chicken pox and never had chicken pox. Is everyone getting chicken pox vaccine now?
Read the article or do some research. I don't see that there's harm in putting off a vaccine for a period. I was deeply concerned about one siting in the article of an infant having a severe reaction to one of the vaccines then continuing with the usual and customary series as scheduled at which point there was a change in his personality which later was diagnosed as autism. It seems if there is a severe reaction the first time, it might be better to wait and do the second series when the immune system is a little stronger.
What do you know and/or think about this? Has anyone out there put off vaccines until they were sure the baby was strong enough? I know these are all questions for my pediatrician but I'm wondering what your thoughts are--you're the ones with the babies not them! LOL

In good time
Are you looking for instant results? Then you'll likely put forth great effort and expense while encountering much frustration, with no guarantee that you'll reach your goal.

There is a much more reliable and easily accessible way to achieve the results you seek. It is with patience.

Instead of fighting against time and making time your enemy, use time as your friend. Instead of being resentful that you can't have it all now, be thankful that you can savor the process of working your way toward a meaningful goal.

To obtain anything of great value, you must provide great value and exert great effort. Spreading that effort over a reasonable amount of time is a key to dependable success.

Rushing through life is neither enjoyable nor effective. Slow down, spend your time and resources wisely and thoughtfully, and enjoy the journey.

With your efforts steady and consistent, have the patience to let life unfold at a sustainable pace. And the results you seek will surely come to you in good time.

Marisa---both Dani and Dallass are postponing vaccines and choosing not to do some of them, due to the question of autism, especially since their brother has autism. I support their decision, since the number of vaccines has climbed so much recently. It will take some advocating on your part as docs are not too keen on putting vaccines off, as a rule, but you have to make the call. With the epidemic of autism at 1 in 150 now, with boys being the most affected, I would encourage you to research this more. Both Dani and Dallass could point you to some good research, and I could too, if you want to look at more.

Yes, Donnell. Let me know some other sites that would have info. I am particularly uncomfortable with a vaccine at birth. I had no prenatal care the 1st 5+ months so as resilient as this kid is, I don't understand any foreign antibodies "at birth." Maybe TIME reported incorrectly. The other concern I had was a profile they mentioned of a child who had a severe reaction to one of the regular and customary vaccines-104 fever and sezieurs (I can't spell today)but they went ahead and did the next series on time anyway at which point they noticed a marked change in his personality. He was later diagnosed with autism. I know some of this is usual mom worry stuff but in the face of severe reactions, I would hope professionals would deviate from SOP every now and then, not just treat us all like cattle.
