HOSPITAL TRIP

Did that get your attention? Concerned about decreased movement all day; At 9 pm we went to the hospital just to be sure. I started reminiscing about a woman I worked with years ago who lost her baby 2 weeks before her due date. Everyone is fine. The nurse said it was good I came in and that some people come in saying they haven't felt the baby move in 3 days... The book I have says not to be embarrassed about going in or calling, that people in this field expect to be called at all hours. I felt much better seeing and hearing his heart beat on the monitor and was ready to go home within 1/2 hour. Today I official "packed a bag" ready to head back to the hospital on a moments notice. I packed more baby stuff than mommy stuff...he's gotta look good for the papparazzi!!

The SPIRITUAL SIDE OF IT ALL

Thanks for all your prayers, they're working. I just got back from the Dr. and BP is down to 'just OK' range blood sugar is up to 'concerned about it' range. She talked to me about diabetic diet but I told her "you just watch me lower that sucker, I'll have it down in 3 days." I've had great success and health on Atkins and low carb diet but have been eating cereal for breakfast everyday, had a pop tart yesterday and Tomas brought home pie 2ce from Raleys so I had a little of that. I know that's not much but I haven't been by usual good little self on low carb lately.

I'm dedicating each day to begin with prayer and a Bible study so if YOU need any prayer post it or send me an e-mail...I've got all the time in the world for YOU!! LOL

PACKING

Here's another question. What do I need to pack for the hospital? What kinds of things were you missing that you wish you had? The only thing I remember from 19 years ago is that I packed my clothes with the delusion that once the baby popped out my clothes would fit again! I had to go home in the maternity clothes I'd arrived in days early much to my dismay. So I DO know to pack maternity clothes not pre-maternity clothes. I'm a little wiser 19 years later! LOL

VACCINES

This one's for all you new parents out there. There's an article in TIME magazine about a link between autism and mercury in vaccines--which has now been taken out. But I'm a little old fashioned. In the article it says "at birth"...that is to say...BEFORE the usual and customary series of measles, mumps, etc. at TWO MONTHS babies start hepatitis b series??!! Before anyone knows anything about their immune systems. That was a " recommended" vaccine when I went to China as an adult. And I thought it was done prior to entering middle school. Well, it was, when my son entered middle school. Are you all getting this 'at birth' for your babies? Also, this chicken pox shot was invented when my son was in 2nd or 3rd grade and it was so new, my pediatrition at the time advised against it saying he felt it just prolonged the inevitable into one's 20's. So my 18 year old has never had THAT vaccine, been exposed 2ce to chicken pox and never had chicken pox. Is everyone getting chicken pox vaccine now?
Read the article or do some research. I don't see that there's harm in putting off a vaccine for a period. I was deeply concerned about one siting in the article of an infant having a severe reaction to one of the vaccines then continuing with the usual and customary series as scheduled at which point there was a change in his personality which later was diagnosed as autism. It seems if there is a severe reaction the first time, it might be better to wait and do the second series when the immune system is a little stronger.
What do you know and/or think about this? Has anyone out there put off vaccines until they were sure the baby was strong enough? I know these are all questions for my pediatrician but I'm wondering what your thoughts are--you're the ones with the babies not them! LOL

NAMING GAME

Is it weird we don't have a name picked out yet? I'm not sure we're even close. So y'all might as well put your 2 cents worth in. When I asked my friend, Adella, for her 2 cents she said "stop asking everyone for their 2 cents!" And she's right, the few names either of us absolutely loved someone close to us talked the other out of it. so I'm not asking your opinion on any of our choices but you might as well throw some names out there that maybe we haven't thought of yet.
I sort of want the name to MEAN something-so I thought Isaac as in Sarah and Abraham's son who God blessed them with in their old age and Sarah laughed saying "Are you kidding me, God, NOW? when we're so old?" But Steve didn't like that name one little bit. I also thought Marc Eli which are the letters to MIRACLE scrambled, but Steve didn't like Eli. Steve kind of wants something starting with a C ... kind of... but there was only one that I liked--Cody. We both want something somewhat unique but easy to spell. Like Edward (my grandfather) now there's a name you never hear, at least not out here in Ca. I've been teaching for 6-7 years now and only last year ran into a kindergardener named Edward. So I've already said too much...I'm sticking by Adella's advice and NOT asking your opinion on our choice but go ahead and send in those names!! We'll listen and then surprise you all (LOL) when we pick the name. Or Duncan...Devin...Declan...

Greetings

Greetings Friends and Family,
After 3 days of bed rest my brain is just spinning with what to do next and how I can do it lying down. Knitting a new sweater is on the list. I haven't knitted in decades. This has been a great time of getting in touch with my 'feelings.' Which mostly consitst of SOMEONE pushing to get out or dancing the jig...he's definatly got some of that Irish blood in him.
Anyway, since I'm BRAND new to this blogging thing, please check back often as I discover all the clever little buttons...and I NEED THE COMPANY!!!
