Charles is a squirmy little thing. Here he is trying to take a little nap in the swing. So after witnessing this I'm learning not to jump up right away when he makes a noise in bed in the middle of the night. Turns out it doesn't always mean he's waking up to eat. So we have it down to one feeding a night...at around 3 am.

10 DAYS??!!

Hard to believe 10 days have flown by since my last update. Sorry guys! Well here are some random musing over the past few days....

Someone one likes the pool! Note to self: sit up straight, Marisa! I think I look just as rolly polly as Charles in this picture. Clay has been a great helper and is learning how to talk to Charles.



Another look alike contest...This is Steve's baby picture. He must be older to push up like that. Charles is sitting on a bean bag and Clay is behind him propping him up a little. You should have seen the outtakes to Charles's photo. Tomorrow (ooops! later today...I see it is 4 am right now) Charles will be 7 weeks old.


PERSONAL INVITATION: To all Charles's loyal fans out there...mark your calendars. He will be dedicated/christened/blessed --whatever you call it where you are-- on Aug 17th at 10:30 service at our church. I would LOVE for you to come and share in that special time with us. Daddy said now that I weigh 10 lbs.!! I can shower with the big boys. And don't I look stylin' with this lovely robe someone gave me from mommy's work?! It's comfy cozy!!

This was one of those spontaneous photo op! Five out of six of us were home...well, Charles is usually ALWAYS home...LOL so we decided to attack him with kisses. Not that he doesn't love it, but he's about as keen on daddy's beard as mommy is--whaaa.

Nickname

Charles may be in for a new nickname..."Charles chick magnet LeFevre" as Clay walked out of church on Sunday these 6 girls ran over screaming like a flock of well little baby chicks and surrounded him. You should have seen Clay's proud eyes light up. Mind you they are all H.S. girls so he really felt special that older gals were coming to see him. LOL

Ode to Erma Bombeck

If you're too young to know who she is, check something of her's out at the library, you're in for a good laugh. Think Bill Bryson. If I just dusted off an old brain cell for you, go to the library and treat yourself to her once again.

Anyway, here's what I think she would say about the first 2 months of babyhood/motherhood.

This kid has no table manners or social decorum what-so-ever. Who raised this kid anyway??! Oh yea, he's not raised yet-only hatched. Raising him is now my job and boy do I have my work cut out for me!! The more I look at him, the more I realize he's JUST LIKE HIS DAD!! No god fearing Salisbury would EVER do the things he does!! Or is it just a "guy thing?" I was raised around girls and now I'm surrounded by boys--perhaps while I'm not looking they are teaching Charles everything they know!!
Forget fork and knife, I mean I get that he's just a baby and can't use utensils yet but heck, he doesn't even use his hands! Just shoves his face into the "plate" like it's a pie eating contest at the county fair. Food and drink dribbling down his chin and neck. Then, in order to fit more food in when he's full...he whines and cries until he belches right in front of everyone! And we could solve our gas crisis -at our own home anyway- if only we could harness the gasses that come out the other end!! He's quite the multitasker as well. At times sucking it all in one end while simultaneously letting it out the other without missing a beat!

more belching...or this is close to his "fart face." I don't know why he puts his mouth this way beforehand. Tomas says this is his favorite face that Charles makes...maybe he's the one who taught him!

And of course ALL you moms AND dads are familiar with what happens when things don't go THEIR way....

Motherhood--I'm LOVING every minute of it!! Wouldn't have it any other way.
